STI SP100

The Steel Tank Institute’s SP100 protocol is the most widely used standard by which formal inspections should be performed. We have an STI certified inspector on staff who can conduct formal external inspections of AST tanks.

Formal external inspections using the STI SP100 protocol are our most often requested inspection on tanks.

Together with the tank crew, we can also conduct formal internal inspections of AST and UST tanks. Those inspections require confined space entry training and certification for safety purposes.

API 653

The American Petroleum Institute is another governing body which has put together a formal inspection standard (API 653) for petroleum storage tanks. This standard is more comprehensive than the STI standard and addresses several aspects of repair, in addition to the current condition assessment. Our inspector is also certified for API 653 formal inspections.
